Description

Background isn't done yet, I ran out of steam.

Anyway, Inked, recoloured and more detail etc added... whooo.

Light effects are a bastard, seriously... it didn't look right with just shading so I cheated lol.

Anyway, it's a lot cleaner than the previous version so.. erm.. enjoy?
Ignore my shitty inability to draw hands.. bah.

Molly is :iconrobcian:
Kamal and Ariston are both mine!

Okay, here goes:

1. Composition! It is difficult to tell what plane each character is standing on. You have the girl's foot (on our right) behind the central character's leg and cape, but her hand (on our right) in front of it. This confuses the eye a lot. Also, with the way you have the central character and the orange demon character positioned, it looks a little like he is lighting the mace on the orange guy's head. :3

2. Lighting! Yes, it's a bitch. You actually did a very nice job on the main character. Keep in mind that his mace/torch would throw some light on the girl as well, but more importantly it would cast his shadow on to her. I also thin k you could use more levels of shading on each character since they are in the dark with a strong light source.
This is something you can try with a mirror, an adjustable-neck desk lamp, a dark room, and a friend who trusts you a little too much. Darken the room, have them stand slightly behind you, and then hold the lamp so it shines towards you and projects your shadow on to them. Do this facing the mirror and you'll see what I'm talking about. Do not, under any circumstances, try to use this to get the person to make out with you. It will fail.
The guy who is made out of flame would also be emanating light that would probably light the edge of the main character closest to him and create a thin line of highlight along the female's right side as well.
Fire takes a very, very long time to do, even when you're good at it.

3. Anatomy! The main character looks good, but the 6th finger looks like an accident. If he's SUPPOSED to have 6, and only on one hand, you have to do a better job rendering them, because it looks like a mistake as-is.
The female's arm on our right looks like either a boot or a drumstick off a chicken. Don't try and cheat the hands! It always ends poorly. Also, check out her knee on our right. The kneecap looks like it's going too far to the right, giving the impression her leg is twisted uncomfortably.
The flame-guy's hand is also distracting because you have all the fingers on the same place. Check yourself out in a mirror standing relaxed and look at your hands. Your fingers have a curl to them that you caught in the left-most finger, but the others appear to be next to, not behind the first. This makes him look like he has his wrist twisted awkwardly.

Hope that helps! Remember, this stuff takes practice, so don't get discouraged. You're on the right track!
